Abstract

There is no integration of the use of Deep Learning with project-based learning models. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing Project-Based Learning integrated with Deep Learning in enhancing students’ activeness in Social Studies at Grade VIII of SMP Bhakti Terpadu Malang. The research problem arises from the low activeness of students, which is reflected in their limited participation in discussions and insufficient critical thinking skills. A quantitative approach with a one-group pre-test and post-test design was employed. The research involved 40 students, and a student activeness questionnaire was used as the main instrument. Data analysis consisted of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, paired sample t-test, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The findings reveal a significant improvement in students’ activeness after the implementation of Deep Learning-based Project-Based Learning, shifting from low and very low categories to high and very high categories. The paired sample t-test confirmed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results (t = 163.201; p < 0.001). Furthermore, the correlation test indicated a significant positive relationship between the application of Deep Learning and students’ activeness (r = 0.522; p < 0.001). In conclusion, Deep Learning-based Project-Based Learning is proven effective in increasing students’ activeness in Social Studies. Therefore, this method is recommended for continuous implementation, supported by adequate media and learning facilities.
